Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s hit satirical comedy “The Studio” on Apple TV+ is moving forward with Season 2, even though Catherine O’Hara has passed away. The show, which started its first season on March 26, 2025, quickly became a critical darling, winning 13 Emmys and the Golden Globe for Best TV Comedy Series. Rogen and Goldberg recently talked about how O’Hara’s death in January 2026 affected the show. They said it sent “shock waves” through production.
O’Hara played Patty Leigh, a smart former studio head and mentor to Rogen’s character, Matt Remick, in Season 1. This was one of her last roles. The creators said that Season 2 won’t ignore her absence; instead, they will weave it into the story as a “unbelievable challenge” for both the characters and the writers. Rogen stressed, “We are not ignoring it,” pointing out that the story at Continental Studios will show real Hollywood grief while also dealing with corporate chaos and creative goals.
The second season of “The Studio” started filming not long after the 2026 Golden Globes. The main cast members—Seth Rogen as Matt Remick, Ike Barinholtz as Sal Saperstein, Kathryn Hahn as Maya, and Chase Sui Wonders as Quinn—will all be back. Guest stars and A-list cameos are likely to grow, thanks to the buzz around the show. Goldberg said that requests for guest stars have gone up since the show premiered. There is no official release date yet, but fans are looking forward to more chaos at Continental Studios in late 2026.
