CBS Cancels Watson & DMV: Finales in May 2026

CBS has officially canceled its medical drama “Watson” after two seasons and its new workplace comedy “DMV” after one. The last episodes of both shows will air on May 3 and May 11, 2026, respectively. “Watson,” a modern medical procedural with Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson that was similar to “Elementary,” lost viewers when it moved to Mondays last fall, but it came back to Sundays. “DMV,” starring Tim Meadows, Harriet Dyer, and Tony Cavalero as overworked East Hollywood DMV workers dealing with funny customer problems, kept its ratings steady but lost viewers across multiple platforms.

On March 27, 2026, CBS made the announcements. The network’s 2026-27 lineup will focus on renewing hits like “Tracker,” “Elsbeth,” “NCIS: Origins,” and new shows like “Marshals” and “CIA.” The fates of both shows were probably decided earlier, when they were not included in the January renewal waves and depended on how well the pilots did. You can still watch new episodes of “Watson” on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET and “DMV” on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. ET on Paramount+.

People who watched the show online were disappointed, but they praised “DMV’s” strange humor and “Watson’s” procedural thrills, even though they were cut. These cancellations show that Black-led shows on CBS are still having trouble in a competitive TV market. Fans can catch up before the end thanks to streaming options.
