Manish Raisinghani Says Acting Gives Him an Edge as a Filmmaker

Currently, he is working on projects such as Race Ka Badshah, Engineer Number 1, Jail Ka King, and Jallad CEO. Interestingly, he has also acted in several of these projects alongside other performers. As a result, Raisinghani believes his acting background helps him connect better with actors and bring out stronger performances.

Acting Experience Helps Shape Performances

To begin with, Raisinghani shared that his acting experience allows him to understand performers on a deeper level. Because of this, he creates an environment where actors feel comfortable experimenting.

“Being an actor has given me an advantage. I understand the hunger actors have to explore new dimensions and become someone else. When you meet actors who share that passion, something special happens. You don’t need to push them. You simply give them space to surprise you,” he said.

Moreover, Raisinghani added that this shared creative hunger is why he often works with the same collaborators. However, he clarified that this is not about comfort but about growth.

“I go back to the same people not because it’s easy, but because they’re never comfortable. They are always chasing something bigger,” he explained.

Rahul Sudhir’s Transformation Left a Strong Impact

Meanwhile, Raisinghani also recalled his experience working with Rahul Sudhir. The two first collaborated as co-actors. Later, while casting for another project, Raisinghani came up with a bold idea.

“I had an instinct to flip the main villain into a Maharani-of-Sadak-like character. It was a wild thought. But Rahul didn’t just accept it. He expanded it,” he shared.

Furthermore, Raisinghani revealed that Sudhir built layers into the character. He also imagined a detailed backstory and added emotional depth. Consequently, this not only elevated the character but also strengthened the overall narrative.

“That’s the kind of actor you hold on to,” he added.

Working with Passionate Performers

In addition, Raisinghani spoke about collaborating with talented artists such as Naazneen Patel, Vikas Verma, Abdul Aziz, Sangeita Chauhaan, Jai Shewaramani, and influencer Instant Shiva. According to him, these performers enhanced his stories beyond what was written.

“I’ve been fortunate to work with actors who don’t just play their parts but expand possibilities within the story,” he said.

A Storytelling Approach Built on Trust

Finally, Raisinghani emphasized that storytelling is always a collaborative process. Therefore, he believes a creator’s role is to build trust and encourage experimentation.

“As a creator, my job is simple — bring conviction, create trust, and raise the bar. When you’re surrounded by people who want to outdo themselves, everything else falls into place,” he explained.

He further added that he prefers stories where everyone contributes meaningfully.

“That’s the only kind of storytelling I’m interested in — where everyone involved leaves the story bigger than they found it. It also empowers me to adapt scripts based on the actor,” he concluded.
