Jamie Bell Leads Netflix’s Peaky Blinders Sequel as Duke Shelby

The Shelby family will be back in Birmingham in the early 1950s, after World War II, in a thrilling two-season sequel to the classic show Peaky Blinders. Steven Knight, the creator of the show, says that the next season will be exciting and will focus on the next generation of Shelbys. Production is already underway in places like Digbeth Studios and Stoke-on-Trent.

Jamie Bell, known for his roles in Rocketman and Shining Girls, takes over as Duke “Erasmus” Shelby, Tommy Shelby’s oldest son. He is now older, wiser, more ambitious, and dangerously ruthless. He is taking over the role from Barry Keoghan in the recent film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things is joining him, along with Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abbey, Lashana Lynch from The Marvels, and new actress Lucy Karczewski. More announcements are coming. Knight said, “We are very lucky to have Jamie Bell play Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and Charlie Heaton lead the cast.” “Peaky” is back on the road.

Set ten years after The Immortal Man, the series looks at the Shelby family’s criminal empire in Birmingham as the city heals from the war. It also looks at how WWII left its mark on the city. This is the first project from a partnership between the BBC and West Midlands that is getting £40 million a year in funding. Banijay UK and Drama are making it. The story picks up with Duke as the new gang leader. All 12 episodes across two seasons are a mix of high-stakes gangster drama and new characters. Fans can expect to see images of Bell in character for the first time. This is part of Netflix’s effort to bring back the saga that ended in 2022.
