Awesome TV journalists, editors, and contributors are guided by a clear set of ethical principles. This Ethics Policy outlines the standards that govern professional conduct across our newsroom at awesometv.com. Adherence to these principles is a condition of employment and contribution.
1. Independence
Our editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, business partners, public-relations firms, talent agencies, studios, streaming platforms, or any party with a commercial interest in our coverage. Sponsored content is created in a separate workflow and labeled visibly.
2. Conflicts of Interest
Staff and regular contributors must disclose to their editor any personal, family, financial, or professional relationship that could reasonably be perceived as a conflict of interest with a subject of coverage. Disclosed conflicts are managed by reassignment or by transparent disclosure within the article.
3. Gifts, Junkets & Hospitality
Awesome TV journalists may accept review screeners, promotional press kits, and reasonable hospitality (such as on-set lunches or premiere refreshments) that are extended to all working press. Gifts of significant monetary value, paid travel, and lodging are accepted only when (a) necessary to perform reporting that could not otherwise be done, (b) disclosed to a senior editor in advance, and (c) noted within the resulting article. Cash payments and undisclosed gifts from sources of coverage are prohibited.
4. Outside Activities
Staff journalists may not work for, accept payment from, or hold an undisclosed financial stake in any individual, production company, studio, streaming service, talent agency, or PR firm whose work they cover. Speaking engagements, panels, and freelance work outside Awesome TV must be approved in advance by a senior editor.
5. Plagiarism & Attribution
All reporting must be original. Quotes, statistics, and factual claims sourced from other outlets must be attributed to the original publication, with a link where appropriate. Plagiarism — including the use of generative AI to produce text that is then presented as a journalist’s own original work — is grounds for immediate termination.
6. Privacy & Subjects in Distress
We weigh the public interest in coverage against the privacy of individuals, particularly those who are not public figures or who are minors, grieving, or in mental health crisis. We do not publish private information that is not of clear public interest, and we follow established journalistic guidelines when reporting on suicide, self-harm, and bereavement.
7. Imagery, Video & Audio
Photos, video, and audio published by Awesome TV are not staged or digitally altered in any way that misrepresents reality, beyond standard cropping, color correction, and audio leveling. AI-generated imagery is labeled as such. Stock and licensed media are credited per their licensing terms.
8. Diversity, Representation & Respect
Awesome TV serves a global South Asian audience and the broader entertainment community. Our coverage reflects the diversity of that audience and treats all subjects with respect regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or socioeconomic status. We avoid stereotypes and pejorative language, and we follow the AP Stylebook for inclusive usage.
9. Social Media Conduct
On personal and professional social media accounts, Awesome TV staff are expected to maintain the same standards of accuracy, fairness, and civility that govern our published reporting. Political endorsements, partisan commentary on issues we cover, and undisclosed paid promotion are prohibited from staff accounts.
10. Reporting Misconduct
Suspected violations of this Ethics Policy can be reported confidentially to ethics@awesometv.com. All reports are reviewed by the editor-in-chief and, where appropriate, the publisher.
