‘Dulhaniya Le Aaeegi’ Doubles Theatre Footfalls as Young Audiences Return to Cinemas

Director Akashaditya Lama’s family film ‘Dulhaniya Le Aaeegi’ is experiencing a surprising turnaround at the box office. Theatre footfalls have doubled across major cities since the withdrawal of the CJP protest, allowing the film’s entertainment value to take centre stage.

What started as a straightforward family comedy has struck an unexpected chord with younger audiences. The film’s humour, music and emotional core have resonated particularly strongly with Gen Z moviegoers, who are now actively recommending it to friends and family—a word-of-mouth boost that’s translating directly into ticket sales.

Director Akashaditya Lama credited the shift to the film’s broad appeal. “We always knew ‘Dulhaniya Le Aaeegi’ had something for everyone,” he said. “It’s wonderful seeing families come together to watch it, but what’s really exciting is the enthusiasm from younger audiences. When people leave theatres recommending the film to others, that’s the real measure of success.”

Producers Siddharth Banerjee, Akashaditya Lama and Vikas Aggarwal expressed their gratification in a joint statement, noting that positive audience word-of-mouth has been the driving force behind the film’s momentum. “Seeing youngsters embrace a film made for families feels incredibly rewarding,” they said.

The ensemble cast—which includes Khushali Kumar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Piyush Mishra, Omkar Kapoor, Larissa Bonesi and others—has been praised for bringing the film’s characters to life with authenticity and charm.

‘Dulhaniya Le Aaeegi’ continues its theatrical run, establishing itself as a rare film that appeals across age groups.
