Mumbai, India — Actor Akshay Oberoi has taken on a new profession — coaching basketball to his son, Avyaan. The sport, which is near and dear to Akshay’s heart, now serves as a means of connecting with his offspring.
A Childhood Passion Rekindled
Akshay was born in the U.S. and played basketball during his school days. The sport provided him with lifelong memories. Present in India, he’s sharing that passion with Avyaan, much like Akshay Oberoi did.
“Basketball was a huge part of my life,” says Akshay. “Avyaan loving it makes me incredibly happy. It’s not just a sport — it’s our means to connect.”
More Than Just a Sport
Even with a hectic schedule, Akshay finds time to play with his son. He introduces him to the fundamentals with pride and patience. For Akshay Oberoi, it is not just about skill — it is about instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and happiness.
“Avyaan has lots of energy. I want him to enjoy the game as much as I did,” he adds.
Inspiring Others
Basketball continues to develop in India. Akshay hopes his experience will inspire other parents to find new sports for their kids. He thinks early exposure develops both character and fitness, much like it did for Akshay Oberoi.
Through fostering Avyaan’s passion, Akshay is helping spread a game that defined his youth.
