Actor Amal Sehrawat is ready to return to the spotlight after a three-year break. This time, however, he is approaching his career with renewed focus and clarity. The actor now aims to explore diverse opportunities across films and OTT platforms. At the same time, he reflects on how his journey shaped his love for acting — from chasing fame to embracing the craft.
From Chasing Fame to Discovering the Craft
Initially, Amal Sehrawat admits that fame was the biggest attraction. Like many newcomers, he entered the industry hoping for recognition and visibility. However, things changed once he began working in front of the camera.
“At first, I wanted to be an actor because I thought it would make me famous. But when I stepped into the industry, I discovered something deeper — the thrill of living different lives through different roles,” he shares.
Over time, Amal says his passion evolved. Instead of focusing on recognition, he began enjoying the creative process. As a result, portraying diverse characters became his biggest motivation and strengthened his commitment to acting.
Early Struggles and Persistence
However, Amal’s journey was not easy. Like many aspiring actors, he faced multiple rejections in the early stages of his career. He entered the industry expecting quick success, but reality turned out to be very different.
“I auditioned continuously for months without any conversions. I would often get shortlisted but couldn’t make it to the final selection,” he recalls.
Despite the setbacks, Amal remained consistent. Eventually, his persistence paid off when he landed his first major opportunity. He got his break in a music video featuring Kailash Kher’s evergreen song Saiyaan. This project marked the beginning of his professional journey.
“From there on, the journey has been onwards and upwards,” he adds.
A Turning Point with Ram Gopal Varma
Soon after, Amal Sehrawat got the opportunity to work with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma in films like Satya 2 and Sarkaar 3. Notably, this collaboration proved to be a major turning point in his career.
“My favourite Hindi film has always been Satya. The day I signed Satya 2, I felt something would change. And it did,” Amal says.
Moreover, his performance received appreciation from both Ram Gopal Varma and film critics. This recognition boosted his confidence and strengthened his position in the industry.
The Audition That Changed Everything
Interestingly, Amal also shared a memorable story behind his casting in Satya 2. His photographs were shortlisted, and he was invited to Ram Gopal Varma’s office for an audition.
“He gave me a scene and asked me to prepare immediately. When I performed, there was no camera. He wanted a live performance,” Amal reveals.
However, the first attempt did not impress the director. Amal was asked to return with proper costume and preparation. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, he couldn’t secure another appointment.
Nevertheless, Amal refused to give up. He recorded his audition on a DVD and submitted it to the film’s Chief Assistant Director, Sujit Dube. Eventually, Ram Gopal Varma watched the audition and made his decision.
“He said, ‘I need this actor for my film.’ That moment changed everything,” Amal recalls.
Learning from Multiple Mentors
When asked about mentors, Amal says his journey has been shaped by several people. Instead of naming one individual, he credits multiple industry figures and teachers.
“Ram Gopal Varma sir gave me my first film break. Rajan Shahi sir gave me my first television break. My acting teachers have also shaped me into who I am today. It’s truly a collective mentorship,” he explains.
Ready for a New Chapter
Now, after a three-year break, Amal Sehrawat is preparing for a strong comeback. With more experience and clarity, he plans to explore diverse roles across films and OTT platforms.
As he steps into this new phase, the actor hopes to take on challenging characters and make a stronger impact in the entertainment industry.
