Samantha Bee is making her return to scripted television with a new sitcom called The Ambassador, the latest move in what has become an impressive career spanning late-night comedy and political satire.
The project marks a significant shift for Bee, who built a devoted following as host of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, the groundbreaking late-night show that made her the first woman to helm a satirical news program. Before that, she spent years as a correspondent on The Daily Show, where she developed the sharp comedic voice that would define her career.
Bee’s move into scripted comedy comes on the heels of major industry recognition. She took home an Emmy for her writing work on Full Frontal, cementing her status as one of television’s most influential comedians. Now, with The Ambassador, she’s looking to prove herself in the world of fictional storytelling.
The new sitcom represents a natural next step for an entertainer who has already proven her ability to command a stage and connect with audiences. As networks continue to seek fresh comedic voices, Bee’s entry into the sitcom space suggests she’s ready to expand her range beyond the news-adjacent comedy that made her name.
Details about the show’s premise and cast remain limited, but industry observers expect the project to draw significant attention given Bee’s track record and loyal fan base.
