Anne Hathaway Says ‘Princess Diaries 3’ Hit a Script Reset but Shares Promising Update

Anne Hathaway has shared a new update on ‘The Princess Diaries 3’, revealing that the long-awaited sequel has gone through another creative reset. The Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway said the team had to start over with a new script direction, but described the latest progress as a “story breakthrough”.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s ‘Radio Andy’, Hathaway said that her pregnancy has also affected the timing of the project, making it harder to know exactly when filming can begin. Even so, she stressed that the team believes they are now heading in the right direction and that the new version of the script feels promising.

Disney confirmed ‘The Princess Diaries 3’ was in development in 2024, with Adele Lim attached to direct the film. Earlier reporting indicated the movie would continue the story of Mia Thermopolis, the character Hathaway played in the original 2001 film and its 2004 sequel.

The update is likely to excite fans who have been waiting years to return to Genovia. While there is still no release date, Hathaway’s comments suggest the project remains active and closer to taking shape than before.
