Sir Anthony Hopkins is bringing his music to the world. The two-time Academy Award winner announced Thursday that he will release Life Is a Dream, a classical music album featuring original compositions he has written over the past six decades.

Decca Classics will release the album, marking one of the most personal projects of Hopkins’ celebrated career. While audiences know him for iconic performances in The Silence of the Lambs and The Father, the acclaimed Welsh actor has spent much of his life composing orchestral music behind the scenes.
Hopkins discovered his passion for music as a child when he began playing the piano. Over the years, he continued writing melodies inspired by his childhood memories, family, and life’s defining moments. Reflecting on the album, Hopkins described music as his “first desire” and said he had dreamed of sharing these compositions with audiences for many years.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time,” Hopkins said.
The album’s lead single, Bracken Road, pays tribute to Hopkins’ childhood in South Wales. He originally composed the piece in the early 1960s, drawing inspiration from the landscapes and communities that shaped his early years.
The Philharmonia Orchestra performs the composition under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, joined by pianist Sergio Tiempo and cellist Gregorio Nieto. Together, they transform Hopkins’ long-held musical ideas into rich orchestral performances.
Life Is a Dream brings together compositions inspired by different stages of Hopkins’ life. One of the album’s highlights, My Fatherland, honors his Welsh heritage and family roots, reinforcing the deeply personal nature of the collection.
According to Decca Classics, the album captures the emotional storytelling that has defined Hopkins’ acting career and translates it into orchestral music.
