Acclaimed German neo-noir period drama Babylon Berlin has wrapped shooting its fifth and final season. The concluding season is an action-packed eight-episode story arc set in early 1933, following the turbulent last days of the Weimar Republic and the birth of the Nazi regime. This season will be groundbreaking in how the true selves of its characters are unveiled amidst the most radical transformations in Germany’s bleakest historical era.

From its premiere in 2017 onward, Babylon Berlin was created by Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries, and Henk Handloegten; it received acclaim for being a high-end drama with international traction. The final season sees the reunion of lead actors Volker Bruch as Inspector Gereon Rath and Liv Lisa Fries as Charlotte Ritter in the center of an intriguing investigation amidst political upheaval and violence.
