Amazon Unveils First Look at ‘Blade Runner 2099’ With Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer

Amazon MGM Studios dropped the first teaser trailer for ‘Blade Runner 2099’ on Tuesday, giving fans their first real taste of what the streaming giant hopes will be the next big sci-fi hit. The series arrives on Prime Video on November 25, 2026, with all eight episodes rolling out at once.

The new series takes place 50 years after ‘Blade Runner 2049’, painting a picture of Los Angeles transformed beyond recognition. In this version of the future, replicants have taken the upper hand, forcing humans to claw their way through a crumbling society.

The plot centers on Cora (Hunter Schafer), a woman on the run who goes undercover as a Blade Runner, and Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), an aging replicant racing against her own mortality. The two team up to hunt down a mysterious fugitive whose mere existence could destabilize everything the city has built.

The trailer trades in the franchise’s signature style—neon-soaked rain, sprawling cyberpunk cities, and gripping action beats. Yeoh and Schafer are shown weaving through a world torn apart by power struggles and philosophical questions about what it means to be human.

The teaser doesn’t spell out much about the larger mystery at play, but it’s clear the show intends to dig deeper into questions of identity and consciousness that have haunted the *Blade Runner* universe since Ridley Scott started it all back in 1982.

Silka Luisa, who worked on ‘Shining Girls’, created the limited series. Ridley Scott himself is back as an executive producer, joined by Michael Green, who wrote ‘Blade Runner 2049.

The cast rounds out with Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Tom Burke, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, and Johnny Harris.

Rather than rehashing old stories, ‘Blade Runner 2099′ builds something entirely fresh while staying true to the world Philip K. Dick imagined. Luisa has made a point to say the show respects what came before while telling much of its story from the replicants’ side of things.

The series hits Prime Video on November 25, 2026, with all episodes available immediately.
