Bridgit Mendler is back in the music game. The former Disney Channel star dropped a surprise six-track EP titled Once Again… on streaming platforms this week, marking her return to recording after nearly a decade away from the music scene.
The project, which includes the tracks “Flowers,” “Cold,” “Mercy,” “Long Run,” “Loyalties,” and “Oxygen,” appeared on Spotify and Apple Music without any advance warning, sending her devoted fanbase into overdrive as they discovered the release.
Mendler first captured audiences as the lead in Disney’s Good Luck Charlie and the musical film Lemonade Mouth, before establishing herself as a recording artist with hits like “Ready or Not” and “Hurricane.” But she largely stepped back from entertainment in the late 2010s, shifting her focus entirely.
Instead of chasing music industry opportunities, Mendler pursued higher education at MIT and Harvard, eventually stepping into the tech world as CEO and co-founder of Northwood Space, a space communications startup. The pivot away from entertainment had left many fans wondering if she’d ever record again.
The surprise release of Once Again… suggests Mendler is ready to balance her entrepreneurial ambitions with creative pursuits. While she hasn’t revealed what comes next musically, the EP signals that her days away from the microphone may be over.
