On March 14, 2026, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, No. 17 Arkansas came back to beat Oklahoma 82-79 in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. Darius Acuff Jr., a freshman star and the SEC’s top scorer and Player of the Year, scored 37 points, 21 of which came in the first half on four three-pointers. With 2:27 left, he hit a clutch three-pointer that gave the Razorbacks a 76-69 lead and sent them to the semifinals against Mississippi.
Acuff had five assists and five rebounds, which was the second-highest scoring game by a Razorback in SEC Tournament history. Arkansas scored 45 points to Oklahoma’s 40 in the second half, after being behind 39-37 at halftime. Neither team led by more than four points after the break. The third-seeded Razorbacks (24-8) won their third straight game, while the 11th-seeded Sooners (19-14) only made 43.8% of their shots.
The freshman from Arkansas has wowed everyone with several halves of 20 points or more this season, including 22 points against Alabama earlier. The Sporting News named Acuff to the first-team All-America team. He has 22.2 points per game, 6.43 assists per game, 43.7% from three-point range, and a 3.22 assist-to-turnover ratio, which is the best in NCAA history. His performance shows why he is the SEC Freshman of the Year.
