David Geffen Settles Divorce with No Prenup Drama

David Geffen, an 83-year-old entertainment industry billionaire, reaches a private divorce settlement with estranged husband Donovan Michaels (aka David Armstrong), ending their public legal battle. The April 2026 Los Angeles Superior Court deal establishes confidential financial terms amid no prenup and explosive claims.

The couple marries in 2023 after meeting on SeekingArrangements.com in 2016. They separate in February 2025, and Geffen files for divorce that May. California’s community property laws presume half of marital assets as shared, threatening Geffen’s $9.3 billion fortune without a prenup.

In July 2025, Michaels, 32 and a former dancer, sued Geffen for grooming, broken promises of lifelong support, paid arrangements, and hiding assets. Geffen called the claims “ludicrous,” said there were no oral contracts, and paid Michaels’ $15,000 monthly rent for a penthouse in New York City. Michaels dropped his civil suit in October 2025 without prejudice and asked for more spousal support, saying that Geffen spent $3 million a month.

Geffen paid for living expenses the whole time, so he didn’t have to reveal his public assets. This high-stakes breakup shows the risks of celebrity marriages without prenups, which get a lot of media attention.
