Ed Sheeran Cancels Gillette Stadium Shows Over Weather

Ed Sheeran has canceled his two scheduled shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, as a powerful nor’easter moves across New England.

The concerts were set for Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26. However, organizers called off both performances after consulting with local officials. The decision was made to protect fans, staff and crew members from dangerous weather conditions.

Severe Weather Forces Loop Tour Cancellation

Sheeran was scheduled to bring his Loop Tour to Gillette Stadium for two consecutive nights. However, the approaching storm changed those plans.

Heavy rain and strong winds were expected across the region. In addition, coastal areas faced the risk of flooding and dangerous wind gusts.

As a result, organizers decided that canceling the shows was the safest option. The decision also comes as weather conditions continue to create challenges across parts of New England.

Fans Will Receive Ticket Refunds

Meanwhile, fans who purchased tickets for the canceled concerts are eligible for refunds.

Gillette Stadium confirmed that refunds will be processed through the original point of purchase. Ticketmaster customers, in particular, will receive automatic refunds.

At this time, there are no plans to reschedule the two Foxborough performances. Therefore, fans will need to wait for any future announcements from Sheeran and his team.

Cancellation Follows Recent Tour Drama

The weather-related cancellations also come after a difficult period for Sheeran’s U.S. tour.

Earlier this month, rapper Macklemore was removed from the remaining tour dates after making pro-Palestinian comments during performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Sheeran later said he was not responsible for the decision to remove Macklemore. However, the situation involved discussions with stadium ownership, including Robert Kraft, who owns Gillette Stadium.

Following Macklemore’s departure, several other artists also withdrew from the remaining tour dates. Nevertheless, the Gillette Stadium cancellations are directly linked to the severe weather threat.

Ed Sheeran’s Tour Set to Continue

Despite the setback in Massachusetts, Sheeran’s Loop Tour is expected to continue next month.

The singer is scheduled to return to the stage at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on October 3. Meanwhile, fans affected by the Gillette Stadium cancellations can seek refunds while waiting for further updates about the tour.

For now, severe weather has forced Sheeran to put his two Massachusetts performances on hold, bringing an unexpected end to what was planned as a major two-night stop on his U.S. tour.
