Mumbai, June 8, 2025 — Tinsel town converges with beach cleanup as globally renowned actress Mia Maelzer steps forward with students and residents of Dadar Chowpatty for a World Ocean Day initiative, spearheaded by the Kamala Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust, with the visionary leadership of Nidarshana Gowani. World Ocean Day was the perfect occasion for this environmental activity.
Reel Star, Real Impact
Popular for her work in Stolen, Beyond the Clouds and The Braid, Mia swapped red carpets for sea and sand during World Ocean Day. Cap and gloves, she declared,
“The beach isn’t just a backdrop. It’s where the Earth meets our spirit.”
She also said, “Cleaning it felt like hitting a refresh button for the planet.”
A Community Effort
The campaign saw the involvement of Kirti College, Lala Lajpatrai College, and NSS volunteers. Locals, old citizens, and morning walkers participated in the cause, clearing out mounds of plastic waste. Celebrating World Ocean Day brought the community together for a cleaner future.
Star with a Cause
Mia, who was also art director for Ek Betukey Aadmi Ki Afra Raatein, spoke of the emotional significance of the day. “We didn’t clean just one beach—we respected the ocean,” she said, highlighting the importance of World Ocean Day.
Leaders Who Lead by Example
Nidarshana Gowani, who was present all day, remarked,
“The ocean starts below our feet. When we clean our beaches, we save the earth’s heart.”
A Message in the Waves
As the clean-up concluded, the cleaner beach was more than a sign of an environmental victory—it was a testament to the strength of unity. From spotlight to sand, Mia’s presence converted awareness to action.
