Gajraj Rao Opens Up About His Role in Dupahiya.

Gajraj Rao, known for his stellar performances, takes on a powerful role in Dupahiya, a thrilling series set in rural Bihar. The story follows a village celebrating 25 years of crime-free living, until a prized motorbike goes missing. The chase to recover it before a wedding and honor are jeopardized drives the plot. Directed by Sonam Nair, the series blends comedy and drama, capturing Gajraj Rao’s attention from the first read.

Instant Connection to the Script

Rao recalls, “When Salona sent me the script, I read it in a few days and immediately said, ‘I had to be a part of this—no second thoughts.’ Everything else—logistics, negotiations—could be figured out later.”

Admiration for Director Sonam Nair

A key factor in Rao’s decision was his admiration for director Sonam Nair. After watching Masaba Masaba, Rao reached out to Nair to express his interest in working with her. “I always connect with talented directors, even if I haven’t worked with them before. I want them to know I appreciate their craft,” said Rao.

Nair’s Commitment to Authenticity

Rao praised Nair for her dedication to capturing the essence of rural Bihar. “Sonam’s research and attention to detail in portraying local life is commendable. During our 40-45 days of shooting, her focus never wavered,” he said.
