Harry Potter HBO Series: 2027 Streaming Event on Max

According to Warner Bros. Discovery executive J.B. Perrette, HBO Max’s Harry Potter series is going to be the biggest streaming event of the decade. The reboot takes J.K. Rowling’s seven novels and makes them into a TV show, with each season covering one book to tell the story in more depth than the original movies.

Quick Summary

HBO's Harry Potter reboot, led by Dominic McLaughlin and Francesca Gardiner, set for 2027 Max premiere as the decade's top streaming event. Full cast, production details inside.

At Warner Bros. Studios, filming is going on with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, among others. Francesca Gardiner, who wrote for Succession, is in charge of the show, and Mark Mylod, who directed Game of Thrones, is in charge of the episodes.

The series is set to premiere on HBO Max (now Max in some areas) in 2027, which is the same day the platform launches in the UK and Ireland. Perrette pointed out that HBO is focused on high-quality content and called it a global streaming spectacle in a very competitive market.

This TV version promises more subplots and details, which is exciting for fans who haven’t seen a movie in over ten years.
