Ice Cube, Kevin Hart Revving Up Ride Along 3 After Decade-Long Wait

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are in early talks to play their roles again in Ride Along 3, which has Universal Pictures excited about the buddy-cop comedy’s return. After almost ten years of being stuck in development hell, the project is moving forward again thanks to a new script by Daniel Gold, who is known for Workin’ Moms and Tough Guys.

The Key Team is Back Together Director Tim Story and producer Will Packer are also coming back, and they are all on the same page about Gold’s undisclosed pitch, which has finally put an end to their creative differences. The first Ride Along (2014) and its sequel in 2016 made more than $300 million around the world, showing that the two actors had good chemistry at the box office, even though the reviews were mixed.

Universal hired Gold to write the script, which moved the long-stalled sequel from rumor status to active early development as of April 2026. There is no set release date or plot details yet, but the excitement of the core team suggests that they are very hopeful for a third action-packed adventure starring Hart’s fast-talking cop and Cube’s no-nonsense veteran. This update makes fans even more excited for more crazy chases and sharp banter from the series.
