Jason Momoa Takes On New Action-Comedy ‘Shots! Shots! Shots!’ at Universal

Jason Momoa is loading up his Hollywood dance card with yet another major studio project. The actor has landed a starring role in Shots! Shots! Shots!, an action-comedy in the works at Universal Pictures, where he’ll also serve as producer alongside longtime collaborator Jeff Fierson.

The script comes from Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, the writing team behind the comedy The Package. Details about the plot are being kept under lock and key for now, but insiders are describing the film as a family-oriented action adventure that pulls inspiration from crowd-pleasers like True Lies, Taken, and The Lost City.

Universal snapped up the screenplay with Momoa already attached to headline, a clear sign the studio is bullish on the project’s box office prospects. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich from production company Rideback—which has already delivered several major studio hits—are also on board.

The move marks another step in Momoa’s evolution away from the big-budget fantasy and superhero tentpoles that made his name.
