KAALA – If you are a Rajnikanth fan, then go and see this Tamil South Indian Block-buster film along with Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi in “KAALA”. The film has that 70-80’s potboiler theme of the oppressed who needs a savior, and in today’s time it is up to the neighborhood dweller of the slumdog’s of Dharavi, Mumbai to take that stand. He is none other than “KAALA” – played by Superstar Rajnikanth.
This time he brings the common man story as a larger than life superhero that fights injustice, politicians, and land grabbing, with the help of his family and from his Hindu-Muslim friends from the Chawl. As for Nana Patekar whose vision of a clean India, and uprooting the poor to make way for the rich to move in, is a role that he does with finesse. His maturity as the villain suits the character of a politician.
The film is preachy at times, but shares a good message, which is fight for your rights and never be enslaved. The film is enhanced by Rajnikanth’s style, by his moves, and by his shades. But this time he has some gray hair and beard to show his real age. The film gets 2 and a half stars. Courtesy AWESOME TV & BEING FILMY.
