KHANDAANI SHAFAQANA” – We are reminded of that style of off beat comedy like, “Vicky Donor” & “Luv Shuv Chicken Khuranna”, with this new film called, “KHANDAANI SHAFAQANA”. Sonakshi Sinha plays a role of a Sexologist/Hakim, who inherits a property that belonged to her Grand-Uncle, played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda. In order to sell it, based upon his will, she must keep the clinic in the place opened for business for at least 6 months.
An interesting premise that makes for a light comedy that takes on the delicate topic of erectile dysfunction, and sexual performance treatments.Now this topic maybe controversial for some and fresh for some as well. But it is the double standards that India as a country has to face which already has an enormous population. And how did that happen??
After “Lootera”. you do get to see Sonakshi Sinha in a substantial role where she has time to perform, and give a natural performance.To see singer – Baadshah, playing like himself also gave a natural performance. I must add, Nadira Babbar as her mother, and Annu Kapoor as the Punjabi Lawyer- “Jolly L.LB ” – type role is a highlight to watch and enjoy. This small budget film may feel slow in the first half, but then it engages you towards the second half. The film gets a 2 and half star recommendation. Enjoy!! Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
