LaKeith Stanfield as Dennis Rodman in ’48 Hours in Vegas’ Biopic

LaKeith Stanfield, who has been nominated for an Oscar, is playing Dennis Rodman in Lionsgate’s revived biographical dramedy “48 Hours in Vegas.” He is taking over the lead role after Jonathan Majors was let go from the project. The studio has reboarded the movie with Stanfield in the lead role as the flashy Chicago Bulls star at the height of his fame.

Quick Summary

LaKeith Stanfield replaces Jonathan Majors as NBA icon Dennis Rodman in Lionsgate's wild '48 Hours in Vegas' film about his 1998 Finals escapade.

“48 Hours in Vegas” is based on Rodman’s famous trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals, when the Bulls were about to win their second three-peat in eight years. The movie follows Rodman as he tries to escape from Sin City for two days of chaos. It promises a lot of action, including casino games, parties, and the personal problems that led to his headline-grabbing behavior.

Rick Famuyiwa is going to direct the movie and also work on the newest version of the script, which was first written by Jordan VanDina. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood are in charge of making the movie. Rodman is one of the executive producers, along with Ari Lubet, Lucy Kitada, and Nikki Baida, who is also a co-producer for Lionsgate.

The movie got more attention after Majors, who was originally supposed to play Rodman, left the project because he was convicted of assault and harassment in 2023. This also got him kicked off of major studio franchises. With Stanfield in charge and Lionsgate back on board, “48 Hours in Vegas” is once again one of the most talked-about sports biopics in the works in Hollywood.
