Actor Mohak Meet is stepping into unfamiliar territory with The Lift, a new thriller series on Directors Kut Production’s YouTube channel. Created by Ishika Shahi, the show traps four strangers inside an elevator after an accident.
Meet has appeared in projects such as Khatta Meetha on ZEE5, Indian Police Force on Amazon Prime Video, Sonu Monu Ke Papa, Kukkad & Sons, Anjaan Parindey, Girls Planning and Moms. This time, he plays Suchit, a delivery worker with a complicated past.
For Meet, however, The Lift is more than another acting project. Instead, its unusual concept gave him a chance to explore something completely different.
What Drew Mohak Meet to The Lift
The concept immediately caught Meet’s attention. During his first meeting with the team, he felt the story offered something fresh.
“When I first went to the Directors Kut Productions office, I met Rajan Sir, who was so warm and welcoming that I instantly felt comfortable,” Meet recalls.
Soon after, he met creator Ishika Shahi. He was impressed by her energy and enthusiasm as well.
However, the narration ultimately sealed the deal.
“It felt so fresh and different,” Meet says. For him, actors are always looking for stories that offer something new. Therefore, The Lift stood out immediately.
Four People, One Elevator and Many Secrets
The story follows four people who become trapped inside a lift after an accident. At first, they try to understand what has happened.
Gradually, however, the situation takes a darker turn.
The elevator becomes a space where secrets, guilt and buried memories begin to surface. As a result, the characters are forced to confront parts of their past they would rather forget.
Moreover, the story unfolds gradually. Each episode reveals another layer of the mystery. According to Meet, this keeps the audience guessing and adds to the show’s suspense.
Mohak Meet Plays an Honest Delivery Worker
In The Lift, Meet plays Suchit, a delivery worker who is simple, sensitive and honest.
Suchit does not speak unnecessarily. Yet, when he does speak, his words have meaning.
“He is sensitive towards other people’s feelings and doesn’t intentionally hurt anyone,” Meet explains.
Because of these qualities, Meet believes audiences will find Suchit relatable.
However, his honesty becomes his biggest defining trait.
Suchit does not run away from his mistakes. Instead, he accepts them. Even when the truth becomes uncomfortable, he chooses to face it.
Suchit Refuses to Run Away From Reality
There is another important layer to Suchit’s character.
He is the only one among the four who realizes that they are dead. Even though the truth is difficult to accept, he does not deny it.
Instead, he faces reality.
For Meet, this detail says a lot about Suchit’s personality. It shows that the character is willing to confront the truth, no matter how painful it may be.

Meet Changed His Physicality for the Role
Meet also wanted Suchit to look authentic.
Since the character works long hours as a delivery worker, the actor felt that his appearance and body language needed to reflect that lifestyle.
Therefore, he made a conscious change to his physical preparation.
“I actually stopped exercising and lifting weights,” Meet reveals.
He wanted to avoid looking like someone who regularly works out at a gym. Instead, he aimed to look like a person who works day and night and barely gets time for himself.
As a result, his physicality became an important part of his performance.
Suchit Carries a Painful Secret
Behind Suchit’s simple personality is a difficult past.
The character left his hometown after something terrible happened. Although he did not do it deliberately, he considers it the worst thing he has ever done.
However, running away did not make the guilt disappear.
Meet believes Suchit has carried his confession inside him for a long time. Even while starting a new life, he continued to live with what happened.
Importantly, Suchit does not compare his actions with someone else’s mistakes.
Instead, he takes responsibility for his own choices.
That honesty, according to Meet, is what makes the character emotionally powerful.
Shooting Inside a Lift Was Challenging
Filming The Lift also came with several challenges.
Most of the story takes place inside a confined elevator set. The team worked hard to make the setting look and feel realistic.
There were even mirrors inside the set. Consequently, camera positioning and filming became more complicated.
The weather created another challenge.
The team shot the project in June, during peak summer. Spending long hours inside a confined space was therefore physically demanding.
Still, Meet says the production team handled everything professionally. They also made sure the cast remained comfortable throughout the shoot.
Ishika Shahi’s Energy Stood Out
Meet speaks warmly about his experience working with Ishika Shahi.
According to him, her enthusiasm was visible from the first day of filming. She also had a sweet habit of greeting him every morning with, “Happy first day of shoot!”
That small gesture eventually became a memorable part of the production.
Moreover, Meet remembers one outdoor shoot in particular.
The weather was extremely hot. Shahi brought an umbrella and even carried a hand fan to help him deal with the heat and humidity.
For Meet, that simple gesture showed how much she cared about the people around her.
Rajan Sir Also Encouraged the Cast
Meet also remembers Rajan Sir as a supportive presence on set.
He says Rajan Sir regularly encouraged the cast and helped boost their confidence.
As a result, Meet felt comfortable throughout the filming process.
The actor says he feels fortunate to have worked with both Rajan Sir and Ishika Shahi. He also hopes to collaborate with Ishika again in the future.
What Mohak Meet Wants Audiences to Take Away
Beyond the thriller and mystery, Meet hopes audiences connect with Suchit’s emotional journey.
For him, the character highlights the importance of being honest with yourself.
Suchit has flaws. However, he does not hide from them. Instead, he accepts his mistakes and faces reality.
At the same time, he remains kind and sensitive toward others.
Suchit also works hard to support his family. Despite not having much himself, he is willing to help people who are less fortunate.
Therefore, Meet believes there is much more to Suchit than his mysterious past.
His Confession Could Leave a Lasting Impact
Among the show’s emotional moments, Meet believes Suchit’s confession could stay with viewers.
The confession reveals the guilt he has carried for years. It also gives the audience a deeper understanding of his actions.
For Meet, the moment is heartbreaking.
He hopes viewers will not simply watch Suchit’s story. Instead, they will feel the emotions behind his journey.
A New Chapter for Mohak Meet
With its unusual premise and emotionally layered characters, The Lift gives Mohak Meet an opportunity to explore a different side of his acting.
