Estonian filmmaker Rain Rannu returns with a new satirical comedy, New Money, which is due to receive its world premiere at the 2025 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. The film dives into the chaotic and humorous world of cryptocurrency through the story of a group of young entrepreneurs who get into deep trouble when a Bitcoin windfall changes their lives overnight.
The film boasts an energetic ensemble cast in Liis Lass, Kristo Viiding, and Priit Pius in a mix of sharp humor and socially reflective storytelling. New Money delves deep into modern digital culture and questions how overnight wealth and the crypto craze reshape ambition, friendship, and morality in the digital age.
Written and directed by Rain Rannu, New Money builds on his previous tech-driven hits like Chasing Unicorns and Startup Superheroes, continuing his signature narrative style that mixes technology, entrepreneurship, and human connection. Produced by Tallifornia Productions, the film speaks to Estonia’s growing influence in the global indie film circuit.
The result will be its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2025, one of the leading festivals in Northern Europe, which will showcase Rannu’s wit and originality among some much-needed strong international stories.
