A concertgoer’s reckless act turned dangerous during Bring Me the Horizon’s recent show in St. Louis, when a phone thrown from the crowd struck frontman Oli Sykes in the head.

The incident left Sykes with a mild concussion, though he assured fans afterward that he was doing okay. In a social media update, the singer explained that despite the pain and disorientation from the blow, he plans to push through and continue the band’s tour as scheduled.

Sykes said the impact “smarted” and caused some swelling, but stressed he was recovering well. He acknowledged that performing immediately after the incident was challenging due to the lingering effects of the hit, but expressed confidence he’d be ready for the next show in Kansas City.

The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers fans can pose to performers when objects are thrown on stage—a growing problem at live music events in recent years.
