Reports confirm Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge, the Enola Holmes actor, split up in late December 2025 after a “rough patch.” Fans reacted with shock to the breakup, and reports claim Rodrigo felt upset at Lily Allen’s Christmas party in London. Neither has confirmed the details publicly, but speculation surges about her music’s new direction.
Rodrigo announced today, April 17, 2026, that “Drop Dead”—the lead single from her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love (June 12 release)—drops now. Teasers feature cryptic visuals like Guinness pints, which nod to pub dates with Partridge, plus lines like “I hope you never finish that beer” that spark fan theories of shade. The track’s dark, emotional vibe evokes post-breakup sorrow.
Slant Magazine highlights how Rodrigo’s recent Cure fixation weaves into the narrative: her Glastonbury 2025 collab with Robert Smith on “Just Like Heaven,” plus studio “sad love songs.” She cites The Cure, New Order, and Joy Division as OR3 influences, blending ’80s goth with her pop-punk roots—a shift from Guts that delivers deeper heartbreak anthems.
