Renowned actor and producer Rana Daggubati, part of the board for Jio MAMI Film Festival 2023, views film festivals as key platforms for debutant filmmakers. Rana emphasizes the festivals’ role in narrating stories that often get overlooked in mainstream cinema. As an entrepreneur deeply vested in advancing media technology, he finds a seamless alignment with Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival’s overarching vision.

Rana shares, “A few years ago, independent films found it hard to get an audience, while regional movies had restricted showings. However, the cinematic landscape has evolved, with viewers now open to global content. The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival aims to revolutionize South Asia’s subdued film festival culture, ensuring filmmakers across South Asia get to present their stories to a wider audience. We hope to foster a network of cinema experts, promoting unique cross-border collaborations.”

After a 3-year hiatus, the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival returns with a refreshed vision – establishing itself as the most prominent South Asian Film Festival globally. With its aim to cultivate an environment for fresh cinematic voices, the festival encourages idea exchange, collaborations, and provides multiple business opportunities while introducing Mumbai to world-class cinema. The 2023 edition plans to gather the crème de la crème of the global film fraternity.

The festival is scheduled from Friday, October 27 to Sunday, November 5, 2023, in Mumbai.
