Directors Joe and Anthony Russo started AGBO, a production company in Los Angeles. They have laid off 15% of their staff, which means that about 20 of their 130 employees will no longer be working there. As part of a resource reallocation that focused on core areas like film, TV, and gaming, staff were told last week. During this restructuring, most of the cuts affected middle management.
AGBO, Russo Brothers' production firm, lays off 15% of staff amid Hollywood shifts. Focus remains on Citadel S2, Extraction spinoffs, and Avengers: Doomsday.
AGBO was founded in 2017 while the Russos were working on Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Since then, the company has made blockbusters that have made over $7 billion worldwide. To get into the gaming business, the company sold a small part of itself to Nexon for $400 million in 2022. They have recently hired people like Cory Lanier as SVP of Television in March.
In May, season 2 of AGBO’s Citadel will be available on Prime Video, and there are plans for spinoffs. Next month, Amazon will release The Bluff starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Netflix will release Extraction spinoffs like Mazz’s Merc. The studio is also working on The Whisper Man with Robert De Niro, Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, and the John Rambo prequel with Lionsgate.
