Starting in 2027, Phil Rosenthal’s popular food travel show “Somebody Feed Phil” will no longer be available on Netflix. This is a big change for streaming services. With the new “Phil Rosenthal World” YouTube channel, Rosenthal can connect with more fans and have more control over his IP.
The show, made by the same person who made “Everybody Loves Raymond,” came out on Netflix in 2018. Eight seasons have already been streamed there, and they will stay available. YouTube will get new episodes with both short and long content, thanks to a deal with Banijay Americas, the company behind “Big Brother” and “MasterChef.” Rosenthal wants to make his themes of family, food, travel, and laughter easier for people all over the world to understand.
Ben Samek, the CEO of Banijay Americas, praised Rosenthal for being able to see trends ahead of time and said that YouTube was a “natural progression” for his global digital home. Rosenthal agreed, pointing out that the show is popular with everyone, just like his last hit sitcom. The change shows that the industry is moving more toward platforms that let audiences interact directly.
