Actor Sunil Sharma, who rose to fame with his role in Dhurandhar, believes theatre played a major role in shaping his career. According to him, his early days on stage helped him develop discipline, confidence, and a deeper connection with audiences.
A Strong Foundation at Prithvi Theatre
To begin with, Sunil started his acting journey in theatre, where he learned the fundamentals of performance. He shared that working at Prithvi Theatre helped him grow both professionally and personally.
“Theatre gave me a strong base. It taught me discipline, confidence, and how to truly connect with the audience,” he said.
Moreover, Sunil explained that theatre taught him to live in the present moment. He believes that when an actor surrenders to a scene, emotions flow naturally and performances become more authentic.
Transitioning from Stage to Screen
Furthermore, Sunil revealed that each medium requires a different acting approach. Having worked across theatre, television, and films, he understands the nuances of each format.
“Stage acting is expressive, while screen acting is subtle,” he explained. Additionally, he noted that theatre helps actors build emotional depth and strong fundamentals.
However, the shift from stage to screen was not easy. Sunil admitted that he had to refine his performance and reduce exaggerated expressions. “I had to unlearn being loud and expressive. It was challenging, but I learned to internalize emotions for the camera,” he shared.
Portraying Mythological Characters with Sincerity
Apart from this, Sunil has also portrayed divine characters such as Lord Shiva, Lord Ram, and Lord Krishna in shows like Shri Ganesh.
While talking about these roles, he said he focused on understanding the spiritual essence of each character. At the same time, he maintained discipline to portray them with honesty and authenticity.
Personal Growth Beyond Acting
Finally, Sunil reflected on how these roles influenced his personal life as well. He shared that playing mythological characters helped him grow spiritually and emotionally.
“These roles made me more patient, grounded, and spiritually aware — both as an actor and as a person,” Sunil concluded.
