Taylor Sheridan’s new drama “The Madison” has officially become his biggest series debut ever. It took over Paramount+ streams in its first few days and set a high bar for the most talked-about TV shows of 2026. The first episode of the show got more than 8 million views in just 10 days, making it one of the platform’s best original series launches so far.
Critics have given the show mixed reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes showing a 60% positive rating from critics and a higher 74% positive score from viewers. This shows that fans of Sheridan’s Western-style drama will like the show. Early scores on Metacritic are in the “mixed or average” range. This is because there are both positive and negative reviews. People liked the performances, especially Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, but they didn’t like the heavy-handed dialogue and the fact that the movie used a lot of Sheridan’s usual tropes.
“The Madison” is about the Clyburn family’s move from Manhattan to the rough wilderness of Montana. It plays on the same urban-rural tensions that have made Sheridan’s shows like “Yellowstone,” “1923,” and “Tulsa King” so popular. This “family-driven Western drama” takes advantage of Sheridan’s history of making big-budget, cinematic stories that keep people subscribing to and advertising on Paramount+.
“The Madison” has the most viewers for a Taylor Sheridan series’ first episode, but its early reviews aren’t as good as those of some of his other hits. For instance, Yellowstone and 1923 have higher RT averages, but “The Madison” shows that Sheridan’s brand is still very popular and has strong opening-week numbers.
