‘The Shards’ Soundtrack Taps Hayes Warner and Troye Sivan for Original Music

FX’s The Shards is getting a soundtrack worthy of its dark, stylish aesthetic. The upcoming 16-track release will feature original music from series star Hayes Warner, pop sensation Troye Sivan and several collaborators, arriving after the show’s first season finale on September 9, 2026.

The soundtrack expands on the music woven throughout Ryan Murphy’s teen drama, which adapts Bret Easton Ellis’ 2023 novel of the same name.

Hayes Warner, who plays Debbie Schaffer in the series, isn’t just acting—she’s also contributing original songs to the soundtrack. The multi-hyphenate performer has written music directly inspired by her character’s perspective, channeling Debbie’s emotions and experiences into her work.

Among her contributions is “No One Takes Me Seriously,” a track that explores themes central to Debbie’s story arc. Warner’s dual role as both actress and musician gives the soundtrack an added layer of authenticity, connecting the music directly to the characters audiences see on screen.

Troye Sivan, alongside longtime collaborator Leland and Oscar Görres, is also lending his talents to the project. Their contributions help establish a musical identity for the series that blends contemporary pop sensibilities with the show’s 1981 Los Angeles setting.

The Shards follows Bret Ellis, a high school student navigating privilege, relationships and social hierarchies in affluent 1980s Los Angeles. But beneath the polished surface lurks a darker threat: a series of disturbing murders that disrupts his world.

The series stars Igby Rigney as Bret Ellis, alongside Warner, model Kaia Gerber and Graham Campbell. Its period setting, fashion and music all play crucial roles in building the show’s tense, atmospheric tone.
