On March 15 at loanDepot Park in Miami, Team USA beat the Dominican Republic by a score of 2-1 in the semifinals of the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This win sent them to the finals. Paul Skenes pitched for the U.S. against a strong Dominican lineup that had already scored 51 runs in the tournament.
Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony each hit a solo home run, which was all of Team USA’s offense. This gave them the edge in a low-scoring game. Junior Caminero hit a solo home run for the Dominican Republic, which was his first run off Skenes. Luis Severino struck out six batters for the D.R., including Bobby Witt Jr. and Bryce Harper early on.
The game stayed close because both teams missed important chances, like when USA had runners on second and third in one inning. Mason Miller struck out Geraldo Perdomo on a called strike three that was up for debate, which sealed the win. This is the third time the teams have met in the WBC, and the USA has now evened the score.
