Vikrant Massey is taking Musafir Café beyond the screen. The National Award-winning actor is developing two real-life cafés inspired by the series.
One café is planned in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The other will come up in Uttarakhand.
The project will bring the show’s fictional café experience into the real world. Massey, who played Chander, now wants fans to experience that world for themselves.
More Than Just a Café
The upcoming spaces will be more than places to grab coffee. According to reports, they will combine cafés, books and creative spaces.
Around 20 rooms are also being planned as artist residencies. As a result, artists and other creative professionals will have a place to stay, work and develop new projects.
The idea took shape after the strong response to the series. Moreover, fans had often expressed their wish to see a real Musafir Café in the hills.
How the Idea Came Together
Massey discussed the concept with author Divya Prakash Dubey, show creator Sharanya Rajgopal and Vijay Subramaniam of Collective Artistes Network.
Dubey’s book Musafir Café inspired the series. Therefore, the new cafés will carry forward the spirit of both the book and the show.
What started as an idea to recreate the on-screen café has now grown into a larger creative vision.
A Peaceful Space in the Hills
The choice of Dharamshala and Uttarakhand is also significant. Both locations offer mountains, greenery and a slower pace of life.
That atmosphere fits the spirit of Musafir Café. Visitors will be able to enjoy coffee, browse books and spend time away from the city’s fast-paced routine.
At the same time, the artist residencies will encourage creativity. People will have the opportunity to work on their projects while surrounded by nature.
Fans Could Experience the Show in Real Life
The project could offer fans a completely different way to connect with Musafir Café. Instead of simply watching the fictional café on screen, visitors could eventually step into a similar space themselves.
Moreover, the combination of hospitality and artist residencies gives the project a wider purpose. It aims to create a community around books, creativity, travel and meaningful experiences.
Musafir Café Set for Summer 2027
Work on the project has already begun. Meanwhile, Massey is targeting a launch by summer 2027.
However, the final opening timeline could depend on construction and other preparations. For now, fans will have to wait for more details about the two locations.
Vikrant Massey’s Next Project
Alongside his new venture, Massey continues to focus on acting. He will next be seen in White, a biographical film based on the life of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Meanwhile, his Musafir Café project gives him an opportunity to explore a new creative space.
