Indian Cinema Receives Global Appreciation After Jannik Sinner’s Historic Win, with notable figures such as Jana Nayagan gaining recognition.
In a never-before moment, Wimbledon has saluted Indian cinema — marking the release of Thalapathy Vijay’s new film Jana Nayagan. The reason? Jannik Sinner’s dominating triumph against Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 Wimbledon final.
Wimbledon’s official Instagram shocked fans with a strong post. It was Sinner taking a triumphant selfie stance with his trophy — copying Vijay’s posture in the Jana Nayagan Republic Day poster.
The caption was: “The First Roar”, inspired by the film’s intense BGM scored by Anirudh Ravichander.

A First for Indian Film at Wimbledon
It is the first time that Wimbledon has ever drawn inspiration from an Indian film or actor. With this, Jana Nayagan becomes the first Indian cinematic homage recognized by the legendary tournament.
Vijay’s Last Film, Releasing Pongal 2026
Directed by Venkat K. Narayana under the banner of KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan will release in theatres across the world on January 9, 2026 — just in time for Pongal.
This movie is particularly noteworthy as it happens to be Thalapathy Vijay’s last acting assignment, and hence, a grand send-off to his mythical career.
