Zack Snyder’s ‘The Last Photograph’ Premieres at Toronto Film Festival

Zack Snyder is taking his long-awaited thriller ‘The Last Photograph’ to the Toronto International Film Festival next year. The film will premiere at TIFF 2026 as a special screening on Sunday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. The event takes place at the John Bassett Theatre inside the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The last-minute addition gives Snyder’s independent production a major platform as it searches for a distributor. The movie was made independently and currently has no studio or streaming deal attached.

‘The Last Photograph’ marks Snyder’s first feature since wrapping up his two-part Netflix sci-fi epic ‘Rebel Moon’. This time, he’s taking a step back to focus on a smaller, more intimate action thriller set in South America’s dangerous landscapes.

The story centers on an ex-DEA agent who ventures deep into the South American jungle for revenge. Along the way, he must battle both the brutal environment and his own inner demons.

Stuart Martin leads the cast, joined by Fra Fee and Costanza Andrade. The ensemble also features Jackie Kay, Carolina Henao and Marlon Moreno.

Snyder directed the film from a screenplay by Kurt Johnstad and serves as a producer with Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller. He also handled cinematography duties, bringing a personal touch to the project.

Snyder has been developing The Last Photograph for more than a decade. The project took shape over the years following his work on Justice League, eventually becoming an independently financed film.

The crew shot the thriller in Colombia and Los Angeles in 2025. Snyder is known for major blockbusters like 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, so this intimate thriller represents a notable shift in direction.

Since the film is independently made and still looking for distribution, the Toronto festival provides a crucial opportunity. Potential buyers will see the movie on an international stage for the first time, while audiences get their first look at Snyder’s latest work.

TIFF 2026 runs from September 10 through 20 during the festival’s 51st edition.

The Last Photograph currently has no confirmed theatrical or streaming release date. The TIFF premiere is expected to attract distribution interest, with more announcements likely to follow the festival screening.
