The European Film Academy on Tuesday announced the top nominees for the 2026 European Film Awards craft categories, with “Bugonia,” “Sirat,” and “Sound of Falling” topping the list with five nominations each. Presented on January 17, 2026, in Berlin, the awards recognize the technical and artistic craftsmanship behind some of Europe’s most captivating films.

Yorgos Lanthimos’s dark comedy “Bugonia,” Olivier Laxe’s apocalyptic drama “Sirat,” and Mascha Schilinski’s generational tale “Sound of Falling” each swept major craft categories including cinematography, editing, production design, sound design, and original score. Both “Sirat” and “Sound of Falling” also vie for Best European Film, underlining their critical acclaim and artistic impact. Lanthimos is also nominated as Best European Director for “Bugonia.”

Another big contender, Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” picked up five major nods but also an additional three in craft categories for best casting, original score and production design. Agnieszka Holland’s biopic “Franz” also picked up multiple craft nods for costume design and hair and makeup, reflecting its meticulous period detail.
