A new report from the NYPD says that Anne Burrell, the famous Food Network star from “Worst Cooks in America,” left a note saying she wanted to kill herself the morning of her death. The 55-year-old chef killed himself on June 17, 2025, after taking too much antihistamines, alcohol, and amphetamines.

Stuart Claxton, her husband, found her in the bathroom surrounded by over-the-counter pills and not responding after noticing that the bed was unusually made. He had no idea she was thinking about killing herself before, because she had never talked about it or tried it. In the main bedroom, investigators found the note and journal entries that were “suicidal.”
The New York City medical examiner said that the death was a suicide because of the effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine. After a 911 call at 7:50 a.m., EMS said she was dead at the scene in Brooklyn. The report came out in February 2026, almost eight months later.
