Actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana brought a creative touch to Kaun Banega Crorepati’s special birthday week celebrations for Amitabh Bachchan. He revived his radio jockey persona and created a memorable introduction for the legendary actor.
Ayushmann appeared on the show with actress Sara Ali Khan to promote their upcoming film Udta Teer. However, the episode soon turned into a celebration of Bachchan’s remarkable legacy.
After his radio-style introduction, Ayushmann delivered a soulful rendition of “Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai.” The timeless song added an emotional touch to the special occasion.
Ayushmann Brings His Radio Persona to KBC
Instead of giving Bachchan a traditional introduction, Ayushmann recreated the charm of a vintage radio broadcast. He presented himself as the voice of “KBC Radio” and announced Bachchan’s arrival in a playful style.
His introduction brought together humour, nostalgia and warmth. Moreover, it reflected Ayushmann’s own connection with radio and music.
The actor is known for his singing talent as well as his film performances. Therefore, the radio-themed tribute felt natural and personal.
It also gave the celebration a fresh twist. Rather than following a conventional format, Ayushmann used his own personality to honour Bachchan.
A Musical Tribute to Amitabh Bachchan
Following the introduction, Ayushmann turned the moment more emotional with his musical performance. He sang “Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai.”
The song was a fitting choice for Bachchan’s birthday celebration. After all, the romantic classic remains closely associated with the superstar and the golden era of Hindi cinema.
Originally featured in the 1976 film Kabhi Kabhie, the song was composed by Khayyam. Legendary lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi wrote its memorable words.
As a result, the performance carried both musical and cinematic nostalgia. It also connected Ayushmann’s contemporary style with Bachchan’s iconic film legacy.
A Song That Connects Generations
“Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai” continues to hold a special place in Bollywood music. Decades after its release, the song remains popular with audiences across generations.
For longtime Amitabh Bachchan fans, Ayushmann’s rendition brought back memories of classic Hindi cinema. Meanwhile, younger viewers got another glimpse into the music and storytelling traditions of an earlier Bollywood era.
That generational connection made the performance even more meaningful. Furthermore, it showed how timeless songs can continue to create emotional moments on modern platforms.
The song’s association with Bachchan also strengthened the tribute. His screen presence helped make the original film and its music part of Bollywood history.
Why Ayushmann’s Tribute Stood Out
Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday week on Kaun Banega Crorepati is already a major television celebration. His long association with the quiz show has made the programme closely connected with his public image.
Therefore, Ayushmann’s tribute carried additional significance. It was not simply a birthday performance. Instead, it celebrated Bachchan’s contribution to Indian entertainment.
Ayushmann also brought his own artistic identity into the moment. His radio background, acting experience and singing ability all came together naturally.
As a result, the tribute felt genuine rather than overly formal. It balanced entertainment with admiration.
Ayushmann and Sara Ali Khan Add to the Celebration
Ayushmann appeared on KBC alongside Sara Ali Khan while promoting Udta Teer. Their appearance brought a younger generation of Bollywood talent into Bachchan’s birthday celebrations.
At the same time, Ayushmann’s tribute shifted the focus towards Bachchan’s journey. The result was a segment that combined film promotion with music and nostalgia.
Sara’s presence also added to the youthful energy of the episode. Meanwhile, Ayushmann’s performance created the emotional highlight.
Together, the guests helped make the special episode engaging for both longtime KBC viewers and younger audiences.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Timeless Legacy
Amitabh Bachchan has remained a major force in Indian entertainment for decades. His career has crossed generations, genres and platforms.
From iconic film roles to his celebrated television presence, Bachchan has continued to reinvent himself. His association with Kaun Banega Crorepati has further strengthened his connection with audiences.
Even today, younger performers regularly acknowledge his influence. Ayushmann’s tribute is another example of that admiration.
By choosing a classic song and a creative introduction, he celebrated Bachchan without simply repeating familiar praise.
A Perfect Blend of Nostalgia and Emotion
Ultimately, Ayushmann Khurrana’s tribute worked because it was simple yet thoughtful. The radio-style introduction brought fun to the moment, while the song added emotion.
More importantly, the performance connected two generations of Bollywood talent. Ayushmann brought his contemporary energy, while Bachchan represented decades of cinematic history.
The result was a warm celebration of music, cinema and legacy.
