Brittany Snow has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s highly anticipated psychological thriller sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret. Best known for Pitch Perfect and currently starring in The Hunting Wives, Snow will share the screen with returning lead Sydney Sweeney in the follow-up to the surprise 2025 box office hit The Housemaid.
Lionsgate has kept key plot details under wraps, but the studio confirmed that Snow will play Marybeth, a new character whose role remains a mystery. She joins an expanding ensemble that already features Sydney Sweeney, Michele Morrone, Kirsten Dunst and Paul Anthony Kelly.
Snow’s casting adds momentum to the production, which reunites director Paul Feig with screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine. Feig also produces through Pretty Dangerous Pictures alongside Laura Fischer, while Todd Lieberman produces for Hidden Pictures. Sydney Sweeney’s Honey Trap banner also serves as a producer on the project.
The sequel adapts Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel The Housemaid’s Secret, the second installment in the popular thriller book series.
The story follows Millie, played once again by Sydney Sweeney, as she accepts another housekeeping job. This time, she works for a woman she never meets. A permanently locked door hides a dangerous mystery that threatens to uncover secrets even darker than Millie’s own past. Like its predecessor, the sequel promises another suspense-filled psychological thriller packed with shocking twists.
Lionsgate fast-tracked the sequel after The Housemaid became one of the studio’s biggest recent success stories. Released in late 2025, the film earned more than $400 million worldwide against a modest production budget, making it one of the year’s biggest sleeper hits.
The original film starred Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone. Strong audience support and impressive box office results encouraged Lionsgate to continue adapting Freida McFadden’s bestselling series.
Snow joins the project during another busy year in her career. Alongside her role in Netflix’s thriller series The Hunting Wives, she recently appeared in The Beast in Me with Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. Her film credits also include Pitch Perfect, John Tucker Must Die, Hairspray and Ti West’s horror film X.
With Brittany Snow joining an already star-studded cast, The Housemaid’s Secret continues to build anticipation as one of Lionsgate’s biggest theatrical releases planned for 2027.
