The cast of Disney’s Descendants came together Wednesday to remember Cameron Boyce, the beloved star who would have turned 26 this week.
Join the cast of Descendants as they honor Cameron Boyce on his birthday and keep his memory alive with heartfelt tributes.
Boyce died in his sleep on July 6, 2019, at just 20 years old, from complications related to epilepsy. Nearly six years later, his co-stars are keeping his memory alive.
Dove Cameron shared an emotional carousel of black-and-white photos with Boyce on Instagram, writing: “I still feel you all the time. Catch you in the next life. Happy birthday. I love you.”
The post included a meaningful detail—a photo of the tattoo Cameron got in Boyce’s memory: a gun with a rose emerging from it. The design represents the Cameron Boyce Foundation’s Wielding Peace initiative, which works to combat gun violence.
Booboo Stewart, who played Jay in the franchise, posted nostalgic snapshots to his Instagram story, including one of the two sharing milkshakes with their straws intertwined. “Love you, happy birthday @thameronboyce,” he wrote.
Sofia Carson, who portrayed Evie, also paid her respects. “Keep dancing in heaven, Cam,” she wrote. “It could never be the same without you, my angel. Happy birthday, Cam.”
Kenny Ortega, who directed all three Descendants films, shared perhaps the most poignant tribute. “C, I celebrate the memories you gave us and the light you brought to know another through creative work,” Ortega wrote. “You will hold a place deep in my heart forever.”
Ortega encouraged followers to support the Cameron Boyce Foundation, which funds epilepsy research and philanthropic causes close to Boyce’s heart.
Boyce’s character Carlos—the son of Cruella de Vil—became a fan favorite throughout the Descendants trilogy, one of Disney’s most successful film franchises. The upcoming Descendants: The Rise of Red will continue to honor his legacy.
