Celebrity chef Eric Greenspan is stepping back into the restaurant world with Mish, a new Jewish deli on South La Brea Avenue that challenges everything you thought you knew about traditional deli fare.

Rather than banking on nostalgia, Greenspan is taking diners on a culinary journey across the Jewish diaspora. The menu draws from Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Middle Eastern, North African, Persian, and Israeli traditions—a far cry from the classic New York deli playbook.
“I wanted to create something contemporary that reflects the diversity and evolution of Jewish cuisine,” Greenspan explained, noting this is the first restaurant that directly taps into his own heritage.
The result is an eclectic menu mixing time-honored favorites with global influences. Alongside traditional pastrami sandwiches and Montreal-style bagels, diners will find shakshuka, Sephardic chicken salad, blintzes, and babka. Greenspan worked with numerous chefs and culinary experts to develop recipes that honor different Jewish food traditions while incorporating modern twists.
The deli’s custom hardwood-smoked pastrami was developed with renowned meat supplier Matt Giamela of RC Provisions, while the Montreal bagels come from a wood-fired baking process Greenspan perfected with respected bagel makers and pizza experts.
Greenspan isn’t tackling this project alone. Veteran restaurateur Bill Chait is backing the venture, with acclaimed pastry chef Dara Yu handling desserts and beverage expert Julian Cox overseeing drinks.
After stepping away from full-time restaurant operations to focus on family and other business ventures, Greenspan said he felt ready for this return. “With my children older now, this feels like the right time,” he noted.
