Guy Fieri, a famous chef and star of the Food Network, has spoken out after a video of him greeting the controversial influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate at UFC 327 in Miami went viral and caused a lot of online anger. Fieri made a frank statement on Tuesday, April 14, saying he “did not know” the brothers before and making it clear that he does not support them in any way.
On Saturday, April 11, Fieri went to the UFC 327 event at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The moment quickly spread on social media, and fans criticized it, saying that both Andrew and Tristan are facing serious charges, including human trafficking charges in Romania and investigations into assaults in the UK, which the brothers deny.
Fieri wrote on X that he had seen fans’ comments and added, “I’m seeing all of your comments about the photo from Saturday’s UFC event and all I can say is that I’m devastated.” He said he was at the arena to watch the fights and that the brothers stood up and said hello, which led to the short conversation. “I didn’t know them or about them before that moment,” he said, adding, “I don’t know the Tate brothers and I don’t support them in any way.”
After the backlash and Fieri’s statement, a planned media appearance on Thursday, April 16, to promote his partnership with Waterloo Sparkling Water was called off. The event was supposed to celebrate his second year with the drink brand, but the company canceled it because of the online drama. Fans have had mixed reactions to his apology. Some are happy about it, while others say they will think twice before watching his Food Network shows.
