Former Bollywood actor and humanitarian Somy Ali has voiced her support for students demanding fairness in competitive exams. However, she believes genuine grievances must lead to concrete reforms—not become tools for political point-scoring.

After leaving Bollywood at the age of 24 with only a ninth-grade education, she chose to rebuild her life through learning instead of giving up.
“My father was born in Mumbai and was completely self-made,” she recalled. “He earned his degrees through sheer hard work, and I followed the same path.”
She went on to complete her high school diploma before earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology and Film Studies from institutions in New York. She also obtained a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
As a result, she says she understands the struggles of ordinary students fighting for every opportunity.
“Ordinary students fight hard for every opportunity, and their struggles should never become a stage for political convenience.”

“I have spent my life rescuing the voiceless, and I know how difficult that fight can be. Stay focused, stay honest, and never confuse noise with progress.”
