HOPE India Release Delayed, October Release Eyed

Fans of Korean cinema will have to wait a little longer for HOPE to arrive on Indian screens. The highly anticipated sci-fi thriller, which was scheduled to release on September 25, 2026, has now been postponed to October.

The delay comes as the certification process for the film’s dubbed versions is still underway. While the English version has received CBFC clearance without cuts, the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and other dubbed versions are awaiting certification.

As a result, Star Entertainment, the film’s official distributor in India, has decided to defer the September release. The final theatrical date will be announced once the remaining certifications are completed.

Meanwhile, HOPE continues to create buzz internationally. The film has crossed $7 million at the US box office, reportedly becoming the highest-grossing Korean film in the United States.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Na Hong-jin, known for The Chaser, The Yellow Sea and The Wailing, the film follows a mysterious discovery in a remote port town. An unidentified object soon triggers a dangerous chain of events, turning curiosity into a terrifying mystery.

The film also boasts a major international ensemble, featuring Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Kitsch.

Once released in India, HOPE is expected to arrive in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Korean. The October release window is currently tentative, with the official date still awaited.
