Lili Reinhart: Male Director’s “Suck in Stomach” Shocker

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart has sparked a heated debate about body shaming in Hollywood after saying that a male director once told her to “suck in your stomach” while filming. In an honest interview, the actress talked about the embarrassing event, bringing attention to harmful beauty standards and the need for female empowerment in film.

Reinhart, 38, who became famous for her role as Betty Cooper on the CW show Riverdale, talked about the incident while promoting her new project. “He really said, ‘Suck in your stomach,'” she said, her voice full of disbelief. The comment came from a well-known male director in the middle of a scene, leaving her speechless in the high-pressure set environment.

This isn’t the only time this has happened—Reinhart is part of a group of stars speaking out against the male director controversy in an industry that has long been criticized for having unrealistic body expectations. Hollywood body shaming is still going on, from demands on set to biases in casting. It mostly hurts women. Reinhart’s story is similar to those of actresses like Florence Pugh and Margot Robbie, which has led to calls for change.

The Riverdale star took the opportunity to promote body positivity Hollywood, calling for directors who celebrate real bodies instead of idealized ones. She stressed that “we deserve better,” linking her own story to larger movements for female empowerment in film, such as #MeToo and inclusive casting.
