Naomi Bulochnikov-Paul is making a quick return to Netflix. The veteran entertainment communications executive has been named vice president of series communications at the streaming giant.
The move comes just one day after her departure from Disney Entertainment Television. She will begin her new role on October 18 and report to Netflix Chief Communications Officer Dani Dudeck.
It is also a notable homecoming. Bulochnikov-Paul previously worked at Netflix before moving back to Disney.
A Bigger Role at Netflix
This is not Bulochnikov-Paul’s first stint at Netflix. She previously spent nine months at the streamer in 2018 before returning to Disney.
However, her new position comes with a much wider brief. She will oversee communications across Netflix’s expanding television business.
Her responsibilities will cover scripted and unscripted series. They will also include documentaries, live programming, sports, games and podcasts.
Moreover, her role will extend beyond content. She will also work across consumer products and experiences, including Netflix House.
Netflix Expands Its Entertainment Focus
Netflix has steadily moved beyond traditional television. In recent years, the streamer has expanded into live programming, sports, gaming and other entertainment categories.
Therefore, Bulochnikov-Paul’s new position covers a much broader ecosystem than standard TV publicity. She will help manage communications around several different areas of the business.
Dudeck highlighted Bulochnikov-Paul’s experience across major entertainment brands. She also pointed to her storytelling instincts as an important strength.
Eight Years at Disney
Before returning to Netflix, Bulochnikov-Paul spent eight years at Disney. She joined Freeform in 2017 as vice president of communications.
Over time, she moved into increasingly senior positions. Eventually, she became an executive vice president overseeing communications for Disney Entertainment Television.
During her Disney tenure, she worked across several major brands. These included ABC Entertainment, ABC News, Disney Kids & Family, FX, Hulu Originals and National Geographic Content.
A Career Across Major Media Brands
Bulochnikov-Paul’s career stretches well beyond Disney and Netflix. Earlier in her career, she held positions at MTV, Sony Pictures Television and Current TV.
As a result, she has experienced the entertainment industry’s shift from traditional television to streaming firsthand.
That background now becomes particularly relevant. Netflix’s business continues to evolve, creating new communications challenges across multiple platforms and formats.
A Strategic Return to Netflix
Interestingly, Bulochnikov-Paul already knows the Netflix environment. Her earlier stint gives her familiarity with the company, while her years at Disney have added significant leadership experience.
This time, however, she returns at a much higher level. Her responsibilities will cover a broad mix of programming and consumer experiences.
At the same time, she will work alongside Netflix’s other communications leaders. Katie Martin Kelly oversees communications for the company’s movie business.
What the New Role Covers
Bulochnikov-Paul’s portfolio will include some of Netflix’s biggest entertainment categories. Scripted shows and unscripted programs will remain central to the job.
However, the brief goes further. Documentaries, sports, live events, games and podcasts will also fall within her communications responsibilities.
Additionally, Netflix House and other consumer experiences will be part of the portfolio. That makes the position closely connected to the company’s wider entertainment strategy.
A New Chapter Begins October 18
Bulochnikov-Paul will officially begin her new position on October 18. She will report directly to Dudeck.
For now, the appointment marks a major career transition. After eight years at Disney, she is returning to Netflix with a significantly broader leadership role.
Her journey from MTV and Sony Pictures Television to senior positions at Disney and Netflix reflects the dramatic changes across the entertainment business.
Now, all eyes will be on how she approaches her new communications brief as Netflix continues expanding beyond traditional streaming.
Stay tuned for more updates on Netflix, Naomi Bulochnikov-Paul and the latest Hollywood entertainment news.
